Sigma Phi Beta @ Arizona State
The Alpha Chapter of Sigma Phi Beta Fraternity has been operating on the campus if Arizona State University since 2001. It is the founding chapter of Sigma Phi Beta and represents the starting point for future expansion of the fraternity. The Alpha Chapter is one of the most decorated queer fraternity chapter in the nation, having won numerous awards, and has initiated more than 150 gentlemen into the brotherhood. 2011 marks the 10 year anniversary of Sigma Phi Beta at Arizona State University.
Community Service Throughout AZ
The Alpha Chapter has been dedicated to community service since it's inception. It's members have regularly participated in community service for St. Vincent de Paul of Phoenix, the Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development, and many other important community organizations throughout the state. The chapter proudly exhibits Sigma Phi Beta's commitment to community building and outreach through community service.
The Alpha Chapter has been awarded "Chapter of the Year" twice by the Greek community at ASU and is the clear choice for queer greek life involvement. The chapter has consistently held it's members to high standards of academics, operations, and community service and has been recognized for excellence in all areas by the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at ASU. The chapter hosts its annual Philanthopy for campus sororities and has used this event to raise thousands of dollars for local and national charities. It's members regularly participate in other Greek life activities including sorority Philanthropies, Greek Week, and is a member of ASU's Interfraternity Council, the governing body for most traditional fraternities on ASU's campus. Alpha chapter members have regularly held office on the Interfraternity Council and they have certainly made their mark on campus Greek life.
Alpha Chapter gentlemen hold themselves to high standards in academics. The chapter has instituted a nationally recognized Academic Assistance Program to help members who are struggling in classes. Members that participate in the program are paired with a professional academic advisor that helps them create an academic plan tailored to their needs. The alpha chapter has also received the "Highest Fraternity GPA" award from the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life.
The Alpha Chapter boasts an impressive assortment of Alumni who have used the skills they gained in the fraternity to achieve success in their careers. Its alumni include lawyers, engineers, lobbyists, production managers, project managers, social workers, and teachers; just to name a few. The Alumni network spans several states and is available to members of Sigma Phi Beta looking for employment, career advice, or networking both pre and post graduation.
